perfect weekend
We just had my ideal, perfect, dream weekend. Well… short of being on vacation, anyway.
The weather was gorgeous.
Clara’s dad hung out and played, and worked on the chicken penthouse aka coop for our baby chicks.
The girls played in the sprinkler, and the slip n’ slide, and the hose, and the plastic pool, and the trampoline, and the playhouse, and the …
We jumped on the trampoline early in the morning — it was already starting to get warm outside and we still had our nightgowns on.
We barbequed every evening, and had sandwiches or mac & cheese for lunch, with fresh fruit.
We discovered the tiniest baby bird I’ve ever seen, who would come over to visit with us while it’s mommy and daddy were getting it food.
I set my iPhone on the deck, playing great music on shuffle even with its wimpy little speakers.
Friends stopped by periodically to visit, eat, drink and/or jump on the trampoline.
I planted some basil, pickling cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. And weeded and watered the rest of my veggies and herbs which are looking better this year than they have for ages… peas, lavender, thyme, sage, rosemary, lettuce, chives, mint of all varieties, parsley… And I made my very first green salad of the season out of my own greens!
Also, I have a honeybee hive which has been dormant for almost two years because of disease, but a swarm seems to have moved in sometime last week, because it’s active again without any doing from me!
And last, but not least… I got the grocery shopping done for the coming week.
When I bathed those girls at the end of the weekend, I had to drain the first bath and give them a second bath to wash them up. That’s the sign of a great weekend!

My dear Sydonee, The scene you describe sounds delicous, and not unlike a certain painting you dreamt about having on your wall. I think the only difference is a trampoline in the foreground! : )

Isn’t it cool how doing nothing (staying home) is the new doing something. Sounds like you’ve got it going on over there Syd. I think the bees moving in is a sign from the universe that you will never be in need of the sweetness in life.

how delicously wonderful! we camped out on our trampoline this past weekend. just drug quilts and pillows out, it was heaven!
don’t you wish it was always like that!
it sounds like you’ve got a great thing going on there with your girls, the veggies, herbs, chickens and bees.
hope it continues! i love weekends anymore.
